I would say counting calories seem to be the dominant discourse among most people today. We see people continually counting calories, drastically cutting their intake suddenly to reach that so called perfect "image". Some even becoming unhealthy ,sending their metabolism into a place of starvation. But they other who fellow it with more safety , focusing on cutting their calorie intake slowly. Paying attention to how many calories they eat each day.
Instead other simply look to pick good food choices to spend their calories on. They go in between he line of calorie reduction and balanced meals at all times. This way has showed to be a effective way in the pursuit to lose weight, but it also promotes healthier eating habits in the long run.
Calorie counting seems to be a recycling trend.Just two decades ago it was the dieting fad .Anyone who wanted to lose weight drop watch the foods they ate during the day and count the number of calories they were having. Then it seemed to be replace by a the low-fat craze of the 1990’s and the low-carbohydrate of the early 2000's .But not more than ever dietitians and nutritionists are recommending going back to the calorie counting days.
